This building site was originally occupied by a K-Mart, which created a few challenges. In particular, we had to demolish the existing structure and disconnect it from a neighboring building before beginning construction. Disconnecting the structures proved especially challenging. What had been a shared interior wall had to be braced, reinforced, and converted into an exterior wall.
For project manager Jacob Wood, an Auburn University alum, this project marked his first time constructing a building in his alma mater’s hometown. He says the project’s biggest success was overcoming the demolition challenges and combatting rainy weather, all while still getting it completed on time and under budget.
